Once in a century event for WA photographers: weekend program now open to all
The longest-operating photographic group in the State, the WA Camera Club, is celebrating its centenary by hosting the WA Photographic Federation’s annual Event for statewide photographers from 23 to 25 June. The great news is that you can attend!
VENUE
The main venue for the gathering will be the elegant ballroom of Government House in the centre of Perth with some sessions held at the nearby auditorium of the new City of Perth Library.
SPONSORS
The major sponsor is Nikon which is also marking its centenary. Other sponsors and supporters are Team Digital, Camera Electronic, Epson, Eizo and Wacom.
PROGRAM
A strong line-up of photographic leaders and experts is headed by Nikon Ambassador and international photographic educator and judge, Rocco Ancora, supported by six outstanding Western Australian photographers presenting a range of talks, workshops and photo excursions for delegates.
The six presenters, Leah Kennedy, Georgina Steytler, Stan Davies, Alex Cearns, Gerrie Cooney and Richard Harmer, are acclaimed practitioners as well as engaging educators. The organising committee and the workshop leaders have selected topics with a difference, ensuring delegates gain new and interesting insights to improve their photographic pursuits.
Team Digital is running a full-day processing and printing hub called The Lab at the event

World leader in Perth
Rocco Ancora is the headline speaker and presenter at the Nikon Centennial WAPF Interclub Event at Government House ballroom from 23-25 June. The extremely talented and award-winning Melbourne-based professional is a Nikon Ambassador in demand internationally as an educator, judge and passionate advocate for photographic printing. This world leader in his field will provide invaluable insights into photographic skills and artistic expression. Rocco will be running sessions across the whole weekend program, starting with his photographic journey on the opening evening. His ‘capture to print’ session on Saturday will examine three major elements: your camera, your monitor and your printed image. Along the way you will explore colour management and different printing systems. His next session called ‘Tips and Tricks with Light: The Key to Emotion’ will outline all facets of light, including the ‘colour’ of light and how it affects emotional impact, as well as exposure, dipping into what Ansel Adams termed exposing for zones. At Rocco’s own request, he will now also include a live outdoor lighting shoot on the Saturday afternoon. On Sunday he will run a full-phase studio lighting clinic on stage in the Government House ballroom with live models. Rocco Ancora speaks regularly at events around the world . . . his generous time in Perth is a rare treat for all delegates to the 2017 interclub event.
